Coincidence

As I have alluded to in my last few haikus, this week has been absolutely crazy. Legitimately probably one of the most difficult, out of control, crazy, hard, weird weeks of my life. And yet somehow hopeful by the end. I can't explain it without going into details or without sharing what field my job is in, which I don't want to do, but suffice it to say, nothing in life up to this point prepared me for what happened this week. I laughed with a coworker at things that were not funny because if we hadn't, we would have cried. I had a long conversation with my boss at the end of the day yesterday that affirmed that I'm where I'm supposed to be. We talked through the events of the week. We talked about how things had been going in general. Then we started talking about a conference that is being held at the university I attended for undergrad. I made a comment about the fact that I went there. She said she had forgotten but that she thought that was what made my resume stand out to her. And I stopped for a minute for two different reasons. It was about 10% that the university I went to for undergrad is nothing spectacular. I think I got a good education, but it's not a prestigious school. Most people from out of state would not have heard of the school. The main reason, the 90%, has to do with something I denied for a long time. In all honesty, the main reason I chose to go to that school was that it was close to the guy I thought I was going to marry. He went to school there my first semester before dropping out, but he was from the area and remained there. Obviously, that is a really terrible reason to choose a school. I regret that that was my reasoning for going there. I have never really regretted going there, though. That conversation with my boss yesterday just furthered that. I have never believed in coincidence, and this just furthers that. Even though I do dumb things, or things that aren't dumb for dumb reasons, it all worked out for the best. Even though this week has been insane, I know this is where I'm supposed to be right now, and I guess I attribute that to the stupid decisions I made as an immature 18-year-old.
